Hello, my name is Michael. I grew up in the small village of Kartong in the south of The Gambia where I still live with my family. 

I am a professional ornithologist and have been part of the Kartong Bird Observatory since 2013. I am a senior bird ringer with a C permit from the British Trust for Ornithology. I have ringed hundreds of birds from migrant passerines to large vultures. 

I am a former member of the Gambian Armed Forces and am involved with the Christian church in my village where I am a choir member.

In 2023 I went to Denmark to work as a bird ringer at Skagen Bird Observatory which further improved my skills in identifying European passerines. 

I offer my services as a bird and wildlife guide and am happy to share my passion and knowledge with visitors to my beautiful country The Gambia. 

I own a comfortable vehicle which we will use for our excursions.
